Our Cariwest 2019 Feature Line-up

For 2019 Cariwest is bringing back some Cariwest favorites along with some new flair to celebrate our 35th anniversary.  Here are a few highlights of some of our amazing performers this year.

Sherman Hype

As our official DJ for Cariwest 2019 Sherman Hype brings an authentic Caribbean flavor to the wheels of steel and has been doing so in Edmonton, Calgary and surrounding areas for last 6 years. He has worked on shows such as Soca Monarch, St. Lucia Jazz Festival and Carnival, just to name a few. His passion for representing Caribbean music and culture in a professional and exciting fashion is something that everyone will be jamming to all weekend at Federal Plaza.

Back in Time

90s Soca/Calypso Session - Dj Sherman Hype takes us on a journey back to when Krosfyah was Pumping us up, Machel was telling us to hold onto the Big Truck, and Byron Lee & The Dragonaires was instructing us to do the Soca Butterfly...

Trincan Steel Orchestra

The Trincan Steel Orchestra was formed as a non-profit organization in Edmonton in 1982. Our founder, Cecil George, hails from the twin islands of Trinidad & Tobago - the birthplace of pan. Our passion lies in sharing this musical artform with others through public and private performances across Western Canada.

Jaxx & LVL Exodus

LVL Exodus is the next revolution in Caribbean Music, bringing the authentic sounds of Soca, Calypso and Top 40 Caribbean Pop to Cariwest 2018. From Reggae to Chutney, Bollywood and Hindi music classics of the 80s and 90s, Level Exodus promises to deliver a highly energized, interactive and memorable performance. Come see them live all weekend.

Emran “Emmz” Cenac

A native of St. Lucia, Emran Cenac is multi-talented entertainer who started his journey at age of ten. Singer, song writer, dancer, Emran continues to evolve his craft; however, his real expertise is fire eating, which is sure to capture to your imagination at Cariwest during our Friday Night Extravaganza.

“Foli” is the word used for rhythm by the Malinke tribe in West Africa. But Foli is not only found in Malinke music, but in all parts of their daily lives. There is rhythm in everything that we do! The way we walk, the way we talk, the way we move. “We got the Foli, we got the rhythm in we soul…” Our Friday night show will showcase 3 cultural groups, ShaktiFlow, Wajjo, and Modern Cree Performers to show you how individually they interpret “Foli” through their eyes
