What’s a Mas Band?
A Mas Band (short for "Masquerade Band") is a group of costumed revelers who participate in Carnival parades.
Masquerade bands have deep roots in Caribbean culture, particularly in the vibrant traditions of Carnival. Originating from the fusion of African and European influences, masquerade bands have been integral to Carnival festivities for centuries.
These celebrations have evolved over the years featuring elaborate floats, costumes, and music. Masquerade bands became synonymous with Carnival, representing a collective expression of cultural pride, resistance, and celebration.
